Welcome!
With our second child due in mid-October, my
wife, Lisa, and I have begun preparing our almost 3-
year old daughter Samantha for the arrival of her
baby brother. So far, Samantha understands
what a brother is, that he is growing in
mommy’s belly, and when he comes out, she will
have a baby brother. The more difficult part of
getting ready, however, is understanding how
having a baby brother will change her life, and ours.
We talk to her about how babies need lots of sleep,
they cry because they cannot sign or talk, and they
need to be held by mommy and daddy a lot. Even
so, without any direct experience living with a baby
(other than short stays with cousins), it is not yet
clear how well Samantha is melding these individually
understandable facets into a more complete picture
of the changes to come.
Most businesses share similar limitations when faced
with change. In this issue we discuss how a well-run
information services team can help facilitate
success.
